Presentation: During this class we will practice phone conversations. We will add some new phrases that we can use if the person who is being called is not home. We can ask, "Would you like to leave a message?" That means we will let the person know who called and how to call them back. We might also want to ask, "Who is speaking?" if the person we are talking to did not tell us. It is always good to say who we are when we talk on the phone.

Presentation: You will practice talking on the phone. You always answer the phone by saying "hello". It is nice to say who you are. "Hello. This is Eun speaking." Presentation: Today we will practice how to answer when people ask us for help. We can say we will help, and there are several ways to say that: Sure! Of course! Yes.
Sometimes we cannot help. Then we always start by saying we are sorry. We can also say why we can't help. Some common reasons are: I'm too busy. or I'm sick. or "I don't know how."

Have students practice answering positively - "Sure" or "No problem" to a variety of the questions. Then have students respond negatively - Sorry, I can't, and explain that they are too busy or sick. It students seem able, have them extend their explanations to include "I don't know how." or "I don't have time. " etc.

We can say these things with the active voice, but we don't usually. Have students try this.

Have students use the different vocabulary words in a sentence of their own. Give them a hint with a picture or with a word-hint.
